NAIC-ISAO Task Force

Sustainable AI & Ethics

Background:

Mitigating the dangers of AI by improving the efficacy of ethical frameworks and supporting the growing initiatives geared toward the alignment of AI is essential because AI can bring about significant advancements and cause significant harm if it is not developed and used responsibly.

In a world where climate change is spiraling out of control, AI technologies can step into the rescue and help prevent or reverse the climate damage done by the last century of industrialization.

Our collaboration with the United Nations Platform, AI for Good, since 2020, has been instrumental in promoting and cultivating entrepreneurships aligned to the UNSDGs.

The Task Force on Sustainable AI & Ethics is a task force dedicated to addressing these complex challenges. AI technologies have the potential to revolutionize industries and societies. Still, they also bring forth ethical dilemmas, alignment issues, hugely inefficient use of energy, and concerns about their long-term impact on the environment and society.

Objectives:

  • Improve AI alignment by improving the efficacy of ethical frameworks. Promote the beneficial power of AI, especially in relation to achieving the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals.
  • Provide mentorship and support to AI Entrepreneurs with solutions geared at the UN SDGs, in collaboration with the UN AI for Good movement.
  • Organize, promote, and deliver the UN AI for Good Innovation Factory for the United States.
  • Promote sustainable computing and data center efficiency, support eco-efficient use of Generative AI, and champion the use of renewable energy.
  • Create a nurturing and support framework to enable all AI for Good contestants to achieve better commercial success by accessing mentors in a structured manner, achieving partnerships, and gaining greater exposure.
  • Fostering partnerships and innovation in the field of AI ethics and sustainability.
